Terry Johnson, DO
Terry Johnson, DO, became involved in medical education during his own Family Practice residency. He became a clinical instructor for the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OUCOM), then a clinical assistant professor and now a clinical associate professor, also serving as an assistant dean with OUCOM since 2001.
Dr. Johnson served as the first director of the Wheelersburg Urgent Care Center in eastern Scioto County, leaving that position to launch Southern Ohio Medical Center’s postgraduate training program in 1997. He served as SOMC’s first Director of Medical Education for three years. He started a family practice in nearby Lucasville in 1999 that became the continuity clinic for SOMC’s Family Practice Residency. He has served as its director since that time.
Dr. Johnson has also served as Scioto County Coroner since 2002. He has also served in various capacities for the Ohio Army National Guard since 1990, including two commands. He is currently in command of the Ohio Army Guard’s Medical Detachment. He is a senior flight surgeon and has been deployed twice in the Global War on Terror, in 2004 and 2006.
Dr. Johnson is the father of four sons and his wife, Jennifer, is a pharmacist.
