Renal Scan Renogram

 

Indications

1. Evaluate on followup renal failure.
2. Evaluate suspected renovascular hypertension.
3. Evaluate obstructive uropathy.
4. Evaluate patient with known sensitivity to Renografin iodinated contrast media.

Radiopharmaceuticals

10 mCi 99m Tc MAG-3 IV

Patient Preparation

1. Patient should be well hydrated.
2. Patient should not be taking diuretic.
3. Patient should void prior to exam.

Procedure

1. Position patient supine, detector under scintibed.
2. Inject 99m Tc MAG-3 intravenously as a bolus.
3. Phase 1 obtain sequential 2 sec images for 60 sec. (30 frame)
4. Obtain sequential 60 sec images for 40 min.
