Pastoral Care
The primary responsibility of the Pastoral Care Department is to extend spiritual and emotional care to the patient, the patient's family, the employees and medical staff. The Pastoral Care Department initiates contact and consults with hospital staff, patients, families and significant others as necessary or requested. Spiritual care is available to all people in the hospital regardless of affiliation with additional spiritual support being provided from the community as needed or requested.
The Pastoral Care Department consists of three full time chaplains, and one part time chaplain and local volunteer clergy. Services are provided to inpatient units, Emergency Department and Hospice. All chaplains are licensed or ordained by a recognized denomination and hold a bachelors degree or higher in religion/divinity or a related field. Chaplains are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to patient needs and code situations.
