SOMC is committed to providing services that our community needs.

Our community needs top quality cancer care. We responded to that need with a state-of-the-art cancer center, the latest in cancer-fighting technology and procedures, experienced staff and board-certified doctors.

At the SOMC Cancer Center, we’re saving lives with increasing capabilities, education about prevention, and screenings to help us detect cancer earlier.

Medical Oncology & Radiation Oncology

Board certified physicians and credentialed staff provide both medical oncology and radiation oncology treatment, utilizing the absolute latest advances in care.

The Mark of Quality

We are the first cancer facility in the region to achieve the prestigious ACR accreditation in radiation oncology. We have also been granted the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS) approval with commendation in seven areas. This three-year accreditation is the highest level of recognition offered by the commission.

As part of Southern Ohio Medical Center, we also participate in JCAHO (Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations) surveys and have received full accreditation.

Team Approach

Our team of physicians, including medical and radiation oncologists, surgeons, pathologists and radiologists, meet to discuss cancer cases and then make a team recommendation regarding treatment to all physicians involved in the care of the patient.

Patient-centered Care

The patient is at the heart of our care. Everything that we do focuses on what’s best and most convenient for you. From providing one medical chart and seamless service to offering ample parking, we put your needs first.

Guidance

We offer oncology nurses to help guide each newly diagnosed cancer patient through the maze of uncertainty. The nurses provide information on specific cancers and treatment options and helps patients and families review the advice of the referring physicians. They also assist in connecting the patient with support services from other agencies, financial assistance programs, home health services, hospice and support groups.

Serene surroundings

Our facility provides the optimal environment for treatment. Soothing sounds from a waterfall, warm rays of sunlight from skylights, calm earth tones and a ceiling mural painted by internationally renowned artist, Robert Dafford can all be found in the SOMC Cancer Center.
