Skin Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment
The cure rate for skin cancer could be 100 percent if all skin cancers were brought to a doctor's attention before they had a chance to spread. People should check themselves regularly for new growths or other changes to the skin. Any changes in growths that are already present should be reported to a doctor immediately.
The ABCD Rule is beneficial in checking for skin cancer:
-
Asymmetrical
One half of the mole or birthmark does not match the other side. -
Border
The edges are irregular, ragged or blurred. -
Color
The color of the spot is not the same all over. It may have patches of brown, black or red. -
Diameter
The size of the mole or birthmark is 1/4 inch or larger.
