Clinical Trials
What is a Clinical Trial?
-
Clinical trials are research studies involving people.
They are the final step in a long process that begins with laboratory
research and testing. Clinical trials try to answer specific questions
or find ways to prevent, detect, or treat diseases or to improve care
for people with diseases.
-
In cancer research, a clinical trial is designed to show
how a certain anticancer approach – whether a promising drug or new surgery – affects
the people who receive it.
