Medical-Surgical Care Unit (3 North B)

The Medical-Surgical Care Unit, formerly known as 3 North B, is a 30-bed unit located on the third floor. Our unit provides care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric aged patients with a variety of diagnoses. Among these most common diagnoses are respiratory, cardiac, renal, and diabetes related illnesses. Our staff consists of qualified RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and Unit Clerks. Several RNs are certified in Medical-Surgical nursing. Our unit serves as a clinical site for several nursing schools including Shawnee State University, Rio Grande University, Ohio University, and Scioto County Joint Vocational School.

The Medical-Surgical Care Unit practices a patient centered care model of nursing care. The patient is in the center of all decisions made on our unit. Family members are welcome to participate in the care and decisions for their loved one. Our nursing staff collaborates with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, registered dieticians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, chaplains, and patient relations representatives to develop a plan of care to assist the patient in achieving optimal healing.
