SOMC Endowment Fund
Southern Ohio Medical Center’s commitment is to provide health care for the future for you, your family and your neighbors. To further this commitment, an Endowment Fund was created to receive memorial gifts, trusts, donations for long-term investment and as a way to honor staff. The SOMC Endowment Fund enables people to create and carry out effective, lasting solutions to the challenges facing healthcare.
How did we create the endowment?
SOMC created its endowment at the Scioto County Area Foundation. The foundation is a tax-exempt organization which receives and invests charitable gifts from individuals, families, businesses and other groups, and distributes income for grants and projects that help meet the continually evolving needs of the community and its residents. Having the endowment housed at the Scioto County Area Foundation, SOMC can take advantage of the foundation’s economies of scale, its twenty-nine years of history, and its reputation for stability, security, value and efficiency.
What will the endowment do for SOMC?
- The endowment will primarily provide long-term financial support with principal amount remaining intact.
- It can support special projects such as equipment purchases, professional educational opportunities, linking with other health-related community organizations or facility or service expansion.
- Like a personal savings account, the Endowment Fund can provide a reliable source of additional income each year.
How can I help?
A variety of giving methods are available which allow you to achieve your personal goals while supporting the important work at SOMC. While some people prefer making an immediate gift, others may pledge to give over a period of time. There are also tax advantages by giving today while delaying the transfer of assets until a more convenient time. No matter which method works best for your personal situation, the professionals working with the SOMC Endowment Fund stand ready to assist you in making an appropriate and satisfying gift. Honor and memorial gifts
Honor/memorial gifts commemorate the lives of family loved ones,
dear friends, or special people who may have touched your life.
Such a gift, for example may be made to memorialize a friend
or family member who spent time at the ICU in SOMC. Or it may
be made to express gratefulness to a medical staff member, nurse,
or someone who took special care of a loved one during an illness
at SOMC.
There are many ways to make honor/memorial gifts. You simply need to request that your donation be made in honor/memory of the individual. The gifts can be of any size and may be designated toward a specific program, or the use may be left to the discretion of the hospital board.
