Making resolutions to start the year off healthy and fit? The Southern Ohio Medical Center LIFE Center is here to help and will kick-off 2011 with an open house from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 14. “January is the start of a brand new year, which gets a lot of people motivated to set healthy goals,” Gary Coovert, director of the SOMC LIFE Center, said. “We want to give people the opportunity to see all we provide at the center to meet those resolutions.” A live remote with Steve Hayes, 99.3 WNXT DJ will take place and refreshments and prizes will be available. During the open house and the month of January, the $50 enrollment fee will be waived for those interested in joining the LIFE Center. “Our staff will be on hand to answer questions, give demonstrations and give information on the various programs that take place throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to learn everything you need to know about starting the year off right with a health and wellness resolution,” Coovert explained. Group fitness instructors also will conduct demonstrations of the various classes offered, including the latest addition to the line-up, Les Mills Body Flow™. “Body Flow™ is a combination of Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates, it’s a workout that builds flexibility and strength and leaves you feeling centered and calm,” LeAnne Blackburn, group fitness instructor at the SOMC LIFE Center, said. “I hope everyone comes out to learn more about it, as well as the other programs we have to offer.” For more information, please visit the LIFE Center at 1202 18th St. in Portsmouth or call 740-356-7650.
