Southern Ohio Medical Center recently invited college students aspiring to become physicians to a Pre-Med Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the SOMC Friends Center. During the event, SOMC honored several local students who have already been accepted into medical school. Pictured are three of those students, from left to right, Paul Ramey, Jessie Reinhardt and Jenny Williams. Ramey is attending the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is a graduate of Greenup County High School and Shawnee State University. Reinhardt is attending the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and is a graduate of Valley High School and Shawnee State University. Williams is attending the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a graduate of Minford High School and Shawnee State University. Not pictured, but also accepted into medical school, is Christopher Brancker, who will be attending the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Bethany Heidenrich, who will be attending the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Cody Horn, who will be attending the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. SOMC Hospice Director Teresa Ruby watches as participants in the 2012 Hospice Memorial Bike Ride take off. More than 300 motorcycle enthusiasts revved up their engines and collected more than $23,000 during the 4th Annual Memorial Bike Ride, held July 28 on the SOMC East Campus. The event was created in memory of Hospice Patient Ricky Bryan, as well as all hospice patients and their families, and annually raises efforts for the SOMC Hospice Caritas Fund.
