Southern Ohio Medical Center recently celebrated National Cancer Survivor’s Day at the SOMC Friends Community Center. Cancer survivors and their loved ones filled the Friends Center and enjoyed dancing, food and entertainment provided by “Doc Roc and the Remedies.”
The Minford High School cheerleaders and SOMC volunteers helped to make the event a success. SOMC Cancer Center physicians, Dr. Liu, Dr. Chang and Dr. Summers sponsored a record-breaking amount of giveaways. Many area businesses also made donations.
National Cancer Survivors Day is held annually in thousands of communities throughout the country on the first Sunday in June. It is a symbolic and celebratory event to demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality.
