Southern Ohio Medical Center recently hosted a Pediatric Open House celebration in recognition of SOMC’s new pediatric unit. The event was held July 28 at the Friends Community Center with many community members, hospital employees and physicians in attendance. “We have hosted several fundraisers and raised $4,500 for the Pediatric Unit,” Amanda Nickel, president of the Coterie Guild, said. “We used the funds to purchase new toys and other items for the pediatric patients to use.”
The Coterie Guild and SOMC partnered to host the gathering. Breakfast was served and participants viewed pictures of the new unit. Dr. Rebecca Schoettle, pediatrician, (left) and Mary Kate Dilts Skaggs, director of nursing for Emergency, Outpatient and Pediatric Services (right) thanked SOMC and the Coterie guild for their hard work and dedication to the project.
