Southern Ohio Medical Center will have free screenings available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Pike County YMCA, located at 400 Pride Dr. in Waverly. “Many people are at risk for diseases such as stroke and heart disease but experience no symptoms,” Ashley Salyers, RN, educator for SOMC Workforce and Community Health Services, said. “Health screenings are important for early detection of such diseases and can prevent major consequences down the road.” The screenings include blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, body fat and body mass index. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, please call 740-356-2720.
