The One West Surgical Unit at Southern Ohio Medical Center is a 31-bed unit staffed with 62 professionally trained staff members who are committed to providing the highest quality of nursing care to the surgical and hospice patient. Our average daily census is 24 patients with an average length of stay of 3.9 days.

The One West Unit employs a multidisciplinary team approach, incorporating professionals from many other specialties to plan optimal care for our patients. This multidisciplinary team is comprised of physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, patient relations, registered dieticians, therapists (occupational, speech, physical), chaplains, and clerical staff.

We pride ourselves on providing a high level of educationally prepared professional staff including certified medical-surgical nurses, certified wound care nurse, bachelor prepared nurses and certified nursing assistants.

Our specialties include: vascular surgeries, bariatric surgeries, GYN surgeries, general surgeries, wound management, ostomy patients, early pregnancy complications and in-patient hospice care. We develop a coordinated individualized plan of care for each patient and family from the point of admission to discharge providing physical, emotional, social and spiritual support.
