Computerized Tomography

SOMC has two of the newest multi-slice CT scanners. We are the first hospital in the area to have them. The nearest is more than 100 miles away. These scanners process eight slices per second. In ten seconds, the unit does 80 slices, which is enough for an entire abdomen.

With these scanners a radiologist can see lung perfusion, calcium in vessels and kidney function. These are things not possible with previous CT scanners.
