Friends of SOMC
The Friends of SOMC is the main fundraising group for Southern Ohio Medical Center. This group of dedicated, mostly-volunteer people heads up a number of fund raising events.
In addition, the Friends operate:
- The SOMC Gift Shop located on the Main Campus at 1805 27th Street, telephone 356-8360
Adjacent to the LIFE Center and connected to it by the atrium is the Friends Community Center, an 8,000 square foot facility with a platform. The "Center" can be divided into three equally sized meeting/banquet rooms. A permanently installed dance floor is in the room that houses the platform. A licensed commercial kitchen is available for use by caterers as well as 500 place settings of china and silverware. Serving plates, coffee servers and other service items are available to people renting the facility. A piano is available for entertainment purposes. The Friends also provides minimal catering.
The emphasis of the Center is on fundraising events for the purpose of purchasing patient care equipment for SOMC, community education and health programs and meeting/banquet facilities for community use. The Friends are anxious to serve the community through this unique, state-of-the-art community center.
