Scarpinato Named Healthcare Worker of the Year by Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce

Dr. Vincent Scarpinato was recently awarded the 2024 Healthcare Professional of the Year from the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce.

Lisa Carver, Executive Director of the Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce said it was a privilege to present the Healthcare Worker of the Year Award to Dr. Vincent Scarpinato, whose dedication, compassion, and exceptional skill have made a profound impact on the lives of countless patients and the entire community.

“What sets Dr. Scarpinato apart is his understanding that healthcare is not just about treating illness—it’s about empowering individuals, strengthening families, and uplifting the entire community. From the countless hours in his office and hospital to leading numerous community fundraisers, Dr. Scarpinato has been a true champion for community health and wellness. His unwavering commitment to excellence, both as a physician and as a member of our community, truly deserves to be recognized,” Carver said. “You are an inspiration, and we are incredibly grateful for all you do. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!” As listed by the Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Scarpinato’s nomination derives from him being a community champion for breast cancer awareness for over 15 years, with a total of 21 years in general surgery.

“His unique style of sharing his passion, from writing screen plays to hosting celebration fundraisers, has brought a unique perspective to the cause. Just this year, he has hosted two musical events to raise money for the Southern Ohio Medical Center Breast Cancer Compassion Fund, which is dedicated to assisting those diagnosed with breast cancer, by helping pay for transportation to receive treatment and purchasing needed items, such as wigs and scarves."

Beyond the money raised during these events, Scarpinato is making an impact on thousands who attend these events through awareness and education of the disease. His most recent event, held at the historic Marting’s building in Portsmouth, brought awareness through song and dance, as he showed those in attendance how, “Music Makes the Best Medicine.”

His energy and passion are contagious and is worthy of being recognized as Medical Professional of the Year.”
