SOMC Achieves “A” Rating on Hospital Safety From Leapfrog

Southern Ohio Medical Center has earned a Hospital Safety Grade of “A” from the Leapfrog Group. SOMC is one of only 29 hospitals in Ohio to earn this grade.

SOMC has now earned eleven “A” grades for hospital safety from Leapfrog, an independent national watchdog organization. The distinction speaks to SOMC’s commitment to safety.

“Safety is a major priority at SOMC,” SOMC Director of Safety Services Christy Timberlake said. “This award means a lot to us because it shows that our team’s hard work is making a difference, both for our organization and our community. This grade shows that our efforts are paying off, and we plan to build on this success going forward.”

Leapfrog assigns grades of A, B, C, D or F to almost 3,000 general hospitals across the United States. This year, fewer than 30% of all hospitals nationwide achieved an “A.”
