In Memory of Cali Marie Roop

On April 29, 2025, Logan and Emma Roop welcomed their daughter, Cali Marie, into the world three months earlier than expected. From their very first scan at 9 weeks, Logan and Emma knew that their time with Cali would be heartbreakingly short—that she would enter the arms of Jesus before they could hold her in theirs.

Through God’s grace, peace carried them through the months of pregnancy. Cali fought bravely and remained in her mother’s womb longer than anyone had predicted. Logan and Emma expressed their deep gratitude for the chance to see her perfect little face, her bright blue eyes, and her tiny hands and feet—beautifully created by God, on purpose and for a purpose.

During this tender time, the Maternity and Perinatal Loss team at SOMC provided compassionate care for Cali and her family, offering keepsakes and lasting memories. Logan and Emma shared

“The Maternity and Perinatal Loss team at SOMC was beyond amazing. They never made us feel bad for choosing life and gave her every chance. We felt nothing but love and support. If anything could have made those days easier, they gave it their all—not just caring for us, but also for our families. We will forever hold them close to our hearts, knowing they gave everything during that time.”

To honor Cali, Logan and Emma chose to give back to the Perinatal Loss Program at SOMC. On August 16, 2025—Cali’s official due date—they began a fundraiser with a goal of $100. Within a short time, that goal was surpassed, and the final donation totaled $1,350. With these funds, the Perinatal Loss team will provide a “Cali Bear” to families who experience the heartbreak of perinatal loss. Inside the bear’s pouch, Emma has placed a personal message of comfort:

In your care is now a Cali bear
It is something we now share
A symbol of our baby that was born sleeping
To try to give you comfort in your time of weeping
Please know you are not alone in your grief
As we now share the loss of a life so brief
From one mom to another, I am sorry you are here
But remember your baby as you hold this bear near.

Through Cali’s memory, her life continues to bring love, comfort, and hope to others.

Forever remembered, forever loved — Cali Marie Roop.
