Southern Ohio Medical Center has earned a Hospital Safety Grade of “A” from the Leapfrog Group. SOMC has now earned twelve “A” grades for hospital safety from Leapfrog, an independent national watchdog organization. The distinction speaks to SOMC’s commitment to safety.
“We’re especially proud of this achievement because we put so much work into patient safety, and this shows that the hard work is paying off,” SOMC Director of Safety Services Christy Timberlake said. “Patient safety is at the center of everything we do, and we will continue building from this success going forward.”
Leapfrog assigns grades of A, B, C, D or F to almost 3,000 general hospitals across the United States. It is the only hospital rating program that focuses solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. The program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
