SOMC Earns Top Marks for Patient Safety from Leapfrog Group
Southern Ohio Medical Center has earned an “A” grade for hospital safety from Leapfrog. This is the highest recognition for patient safety among U.S. hospitals.
The Leapfrog Group grades almost 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the country, awarding them grades of A, B, C, D or F. Grades are determined using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections.
“Patient safety has always been a priority at SOMC and we are thrilled to see those efforts recognized,” said SOMC Director of Safety Christy Timberlake. “An achievement like this says a lot about our team and their commitment to the community we serve.”
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Southern Ohio Medical Center is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
