SOMC to Offer Free Clinical Breast Exams 

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) will offer free clinical breast examinations on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the SOMC Cancer and Infusion Center, 1121 Kinney’s Lane in Portsmouth.

Free clinical breast exams will be provided during the event. If a mammogram is warranted following the clinical breast exam, a same-day mammogram may be provided. Insurance will be billed for mammography services. Financial assistance applications will be available for women who are uninsured or underinsured. Through the Breast and Cervical Cancer Project (BCCP), eligible Ohio residents may also have access to assistance with mammography services in cooperation with SOMC.

The event is being offered by SOMC in partnership with the Fight Cancer Save Lives – ACT Now Coalition of Scioto County (FCSL). Women age 40 and older, as well as younger women with a family history of breast cancer or an abnormal finding during a self-breast exam, are encouraged schedule an appointment.
