“The secret to living well and longer is: eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure.” – Tibetan Proverb

It’s no secret that a well balanced diet, coupled with excercise, stress management, and a healthy home and work environment is condusive to a longer life span. However, managing these can be difficult.

Here you will find a few ways how to reduce stress, eat healthy without sacrificing taste, and ways to improve health even further by keeping up with vaccinations, doctor visits and using proper handwashing techniques.

Healthy Eating

If you were a kid in the 70’s to early to mid 90’s you probably recall the old food pyramid. For most of us it was a healthy guide to eating. The general idea was that your daily intake should be mostly grains, followed by vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy and fats specifically in that order.

However, after 1992 more and more research emerged showing that the USDA pyramid was grossly flawed. By promoting the consumption of all complex carbohydrates and eschewing all fats and oils, the pyramid provided misleading guidance. In short, not all fats are bad for you, and by no means are all complex carbohydrates good for you.

Living Healthy

Stress management, breathing and adequite sleep seem simple enough, but with obstacles such as work and home stress these can be difficult to manage.

Stress is a reaction to something around you or your environment. It is what you feel when you are worried or uncomfortable about something. This worry in your mind can make your body feel bad. You may feel angry, frustrated, scared, or afraid — which can give you a stomachache, headache or a jittery feeling inside. Stress may also make it difficult for you to sleep at night.

Due to stress, some people form poor eating and excersize habits as well.
