Dr. Song Retires From SOMC After 37 YearsPosted on August 23, 2010
After working for almost 37 years as an obstetrician and gynecologist, and delivering more than 13,400 babies in Scioto County, Yong D. Song, MD, FACOG, will retire from SOMC Sept. 1, 2010. Employees of the SOMC Surgery Department recently celebrated this milestone, treating Dr. Song to a very special surprise party complete with food, gifts and many walks down memory lane.
Dr. Song received his medical degree in 1963 from the Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. He furthered his career with an internship and residency in Seoul, gaining certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1968. Dr. Song was named the assistant professor of the OB/GYN Department at Catholic Medical School in Seoul from 1968 to 1971. He additionally completed two years of training at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, Ohio and later gained his OB/GYN certification in the U.S. in 1977.
Jennifer D. Roberts, DO, who joined Dr. Song’s practice in July, will officially begin seeing all of Dr. Song’s patients upon his retirement. Pictured above at the party are Dr. Song (seated) with his wife Lucia (left) and members of the Surgical Team.
