Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Walk Set for June 1Posted on 05/27/2019
The SOMC Maternity Department invites the public to participate in a Remembrance Walk on the campus of Shawnee State University to raise awareness of pregnancy and infant loss.
The walk will be held on June 1 in honor of all babies lost to miscarriage, stillbirth or infant death. The event will begin at the Alumni Green on campus. This event is free to all who have been affected by pregnancy or infant loss.
Participants may purchase a sign to honor their baby. The sign will be displayed along the walking path and will have the baby’s name on it. Information about the signs can be found at www.tristateracer.com.
Registration begins at 8:30am, and the ceremony will begin at 9am. Those who attend may park at the James A. Rhodes Athletic Center. Resources about perinatal loss and grief will be available. Additionally, a variety of remembrance activities will be available for families to honor the memory of their baby.
T-shirts can be purchased during the online registration process with pickup available the day of the event. Those interested in a T-shirt can also contact Deb Rawlins or Kristi Cordle of the Maternity Department at 740-356-8136.
