Genetic Cancer Services at SOMC
Genetic testing is a type of medical test that identifies changes in chromosomes, genes, or proteins. Most of the time, testing is used to find changes that are associated with inherited disorders.

For the comfort of our patients we have a laboratory on site at the SOMC Cancer Center. The blood tests your physician orders can be drawn here at the Cancer Center.
Medical Oncology
A Medical Oncologist is a physician who specializes in diagnosing and treating cancer with medication including chemotherapy. A Hematologist is a physician who specializes hematology and in diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy is the careful use of high energy radiation for the treatment of cancer. The goal of radiation therapy is to deliver a precisely measured dose to the cancerous tumor, while protecting normal tissue around the tumor.
