Liver Fibroscan
What is Fibroscan
Fibroscan is an accurate, quick, non-invasive, painless, diagnostic test
for managing patients with liver disease. It is FDA-approved and covered by most insurance carriers.
How does Fibroscan work?
FibroScan works by emitting a pulse of energy which the machine then qauntifies. The speed of this energy will immediately provide the results of the liver stiffness. Fibroscan is completed in the ultrasound department, which means a liver ultrasound can be completed in the same visit.
Is Fibroscan right for you?
FibroScan is a useful test in almost every patient who has liver steatosis or needs fibrosis staging. The test can have limitations with patients who have ascites, individuals who are morbidly obese, and/or patients who have large amounts of chest wall fat.
